Yes, you read that right. In a country facing longer heatwaves and bitter cold snaps from climate change, the people in charge of making sure low-income families — including seniors and children — don’t freeze to death or overheat in their own homes were just shown the door. All of them.

Unmarked cars. Plainclothes agents. People grabbed off the street, mid-text.
A Tufts grad student disappears into a government vehicle. A Columbia student’s wife begs for answers: “Can you tell me who you are?” — “We don’t give our name.”

Sound like Moscow? Pyongyang? Maybe East Berlin in 1962?

Nope. This is America in 2025.

This week’s New York Times story reads like a dystopian novel — except it's real.
ICE raids with brownshirt-style flair. Detainments without due process. Judges ignored. Immigrants and legal residents — even U.S. citizens — rounded up and deported or vanished into legal limbo.

Their crime? Writing an op-ed. Having a student visa. Having the wrong name, or the wrong accent, or the wrong look at the wrong time.

Well, thank goodness. Who needs the CDC, FDA, or NIH—when poor Elon needs a tenth summer home?

It’s not like we’ve ever faced a global pandemic, an opioid crisis, stage 4 cancer or skyrocketing rates of chronic disease.

Today, 10,000 health professionals across the Department of Health and Human Services—including frontline disease trackers, cancer researchers, food safety inspectors, and public health communicators—were laid off.

This isn’t budget cutting. This is a direct attack on the health and safety of the American people.
